
WESTPORT — Judy Collins, the singer-songwriter known for enduring renditions of songs like “Both Sides Now,” “Send in the Clowns” and “Amazing Grace,” will perform April 12 at the Westport Country Playhouse.
The concert by Collins, whose award-winning career has its roots in the 1960s folk scene, is set for 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court.

Collins, whose early career featured songs of the ’60s by Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, over the course of the next 50-plus years has become known for recordings of work by artists like Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, Joan Baez and Dolly Parton, as well as her own compositions.
Her performance of Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” from the 1967 “Wildflowers” album, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. And her version of “Send in the Clowns,” written by Stephen Sondheim for the musical “A Little Night Music,” won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards.
In addition to a series of top-10 hits and gold- and platinum-selling albums, Collins is known for her longtime commitment to social activism. She is also a painter, filmmaker, record-label head, musical mentor and speaker on behalf mental-health and suicide-prevention causes.
