
WESTPORT — Mike Birbiglia, who gained fame with his comic monologues, “Sleepwalk with Me” and “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” will bring his solo show to the Westport Country Playhouse in early June.
Birbiglia will perform “Please Stop the Ride” at 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 4-5, and at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 (this performance is sold out), at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court.

Birbiglia, also a writer, director and actor, has performed his shows, also including “Thank God for Jokes,” “The New One” and “The Old Man and the Pool,” on and off-Broadway. Several of his routines, which merge standup and storytelling, have been filmed for Netflix comedy specials.
He wrote, directed and starred in the films, “Sleepwalk with Me” and “Don’t Think Twice.”
Birbiglia acted in the movies “Trainwreck,” “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Popstar” and “A Man Called Otto,” and the television shows “Orange Is the New Black” and “Billions.” He also hosts the podcast, “Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out.”
Also upcoming at playhouse
“Mrs. Christie,” a fictional account of the unexplained 11-day disappearance of famed mystery writer Agatha Christie in 1926, will be presented May 13 as part of the theater’s “Script in Hand” play-reading series.
The play, written by Heidi Armbruster, will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, May 13.

“Filled with twists and turns worthy of the famed author’s best novels, Armbruster’s play is a humorous and often touching investigation of grief, love and the mysteries of the human heart,” playhouse artistic director Mark Shanahan, who will direct the performance, said in publicity for the play-reading.
“This Story May Save Us,” a May 29 program about Girl Rising, an international nonprofit that uses storytelling “to change the way the world values girls and their education,” according to the playhouse.
The program, set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, will feature film, live performances and conversations with young climate activists from Latin America and producers of the award-winning film, “Girl Rising.”
