Vornkahl, known locally as “Mr. Parade” for his decades-long leadership of the Memorial Day Parade Committee and the Westport Veterans Council, died last Jan. 26 at the age of 93.
An Army veteran from the Korean War era, he became chairman of the Memorial Day Parade Committee in 1970 and served in that post until the last year of his life. He also was a longtime member of St. Paul Church.
