WESTPORT–A Fairfield woman who allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol was arrested after being involved in an accident that left two people injured, Westport police said.

Kristen Shah, 38, driving a 2022 Hyundai Kona, allegedly failed to yield the right of way while turning left from Ferry Lane onto Saugatuck Avenue and struck a 2026 Volvo XC90, according to a police report.

Two people involved in the accident suffered injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, police said.

But vehicles were badly damaged and were towed to Westport Center Services, according to police.

While police spoke with Shah, she “allegedly exhibited multiple physical cues consistent with being under the influence of alcohol,” the police statement said. She also failed a field sobriety test, police said.

Police took her to headquarters, where she refused to submit to chemical testing. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a misdemeanor, and failure to yield the right of way, an infraction. She was released on $500 bond and is due in Superior Court in Stamford on Oct. 5.
