WESTPORT–Though the nor’easter trudging up the east coast may not be as powerful or damaging as expected, many businesses and municipal activities have been closed or cancelled.

As of 8:30 a.m. today, winds at 20 to 30 mph are still expected, but the rain is now forecast as 0.2 inches today and 1.3 inches tonight, according to Weather Underground.

Closures and cancellations:

• All town parks, athletic fields, beaches and racquet facilities will be closed tomorrow because of the weather, the town Parks and Recreation Department said. The department advised golfers planning to play at Longshore Golf Course to monitor the golf course’s website and their emails for possible closure.
• The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport has cancelled a Fun Fest planned for Saturday 
• Slice of Saugatuck, rescheduled for Oct. 3
• Wakeman Town Farm’s HarvestFest is cancelled

Traffic and safety issues:

• 3:30 p.m.: Hundreds of Westporters have lost power, but this report has not been confirmed by a reliable source.
• 10:25 a.m.: The Westport Democratic Town Committee reported that Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz’s fundraising event has been cancelled due to the storm.
• 8:57 a.m.: Easton Rd is closed between North Ave and Coleytown Rd due to tree down with wires
