RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will welcome the poet Safia Jama this week to read a selection of poems that respond to an abstract exhibition currently on view.

Safia Jama will present the poems from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20th. Jama’s “luminous, image-rich poems explore memory, migration, and place,” and correspond to the color, calligraphic gesture, and layered abstraction in the exhibition “Uman: After all the things.”

The evening will begin with a casual cocktail get-together, followed by an introduction to the exhibition by Diana Bowes Chief Curator Amy Smith-Stewart and Jama’s reading. Visitors are also invited to meet Jama before and after the reading. Admission is free for Aldrich members, $15 for general admission, and $7.50 for students and seniors.
