WESTPORT — A 39-year-old man, arrested three times earlier this year on a range of burglary, larceny and fraud charges, this week faces new charges in connection with two burglaries at a Riverside Avenue office building late last year.
Zachary Elson, of Westport, was charged April 19 with two counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, fourth-degree larceny, two counts of criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny and two counts of third-degree forgery.
Elson earlier this month was charged with insurance fraud and related offenses for allegedly falsely reporting the theft of possessions valued at $30,000.
In February, he was charged with trying to sell an expensive scanner he allegedly stole to undercover officers, and in early March was charged with allegedly stealing items in storage on Saugatuck Avenue.
The latest charges filed against Elson stem from two burglaries reported last Nov. 11 and 13 in the office building at 274 Riverside Ave.
The first incident, according to the complainant, took place between the night of Nov. 9 and the following morning.
Cash, credit cards and checks were reported stolen from an office, and a later attempt to deposit one of the checks was unsuccessful, police said.
Two days later, another break-in was reported at the building during the same timeframe. This time, police said, more than $2,000 in cash and several credit cards reportedly were taken.
On Jan. 27, as police were executing a search warrant at a mobile home owned by Elson for evidence linked to another incident in which he was a suspect, they found items reportedly stolen during the November break-ins, according to the report.
Based on the evidence from that investigation, two new arrest warrants were issued for Elson.
He was taken into custody the morning of April 19, and held on $200,000 bond.
Elson was arraigned on the charges later that day at state Superior Court in Stamford.

Makes you wonder where he’s getting the bail money from….
