WESTPORT — Work to replace Bayberry Lane Bridge is set to begin, with the span scheduled to be closed to traffic next week.
The $2 million-plus project, after traffic is detoured around the site as of Thursday, April 28, is expected to be completed Nov. 30, according to an announcement by Keith Wilberg, a town engineer.
The bridge, which crosses the Aspetuck River, needs to be replaced because floodwaters have eroded ground beneath the span over the years and the elements have eaten away its superstructure.
A detour, posted by signs around the work area, will be as follows: Easton Road to Coleytown Road to North Avenue to Lyons Plains Road to White Birch Road, or the reverse.
Questions about the project should be directed to Wilberg at 203-341-1128.
