WESTPORT — A 39-year-old man, arrested last month for trying to sell a $20,000 scanner he allegedly stole to undercover cops, was charged with two new counts of larceny last week.
Zachary Elson, of Westport, was charged March 2 with second-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny in connection with the incidents.
The new charges, police said, stem from Elson’s theft of items from a storage area on Saugatuck Avenue sometime before Sept. 21 of last year.
He also is accused of stealing a package from a Cross Street residence on Jan, 19, police said.
Evidence linking Elson to the two larcenies was gathered by police as they investigated the theft of the scanner from an office on Sylvan Road South, according to the report.
After his arrest last week, Elson was held on $75,000 bond and arraigned on the charges the same day at state Superior Court in Stamford.
