NORWALK — Staples girls basketball went on road and came away with 24 steals and another lopsided victory, a 60-37 win over Brien McMahon on Friday night. The Wreckers have outscored four of their five opponents by 20-plus points in a perfect start to the campaign.

Addie Talbot came away with 10 of those takeaways and logged nine points. Chloe Smith led the scoring effort with 17 to go along with nine rebounds and five assists.

Staples had 10 players register at least one steal with Emma Asiel getting three and Freya Harvey, Smith and Riley Carney each recording two.

Staples led 24-12 at the half and blew the game open, outscoring the Senators 29-10 in the third, to carry a commanding 53-22 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Harvey had nine points, Carney seven, Asiel and Marley Belzer each five and Sam Selig four.

Talbott, Selig and Asiel each grabbed four rebounds. Belzer blocked four shots.

The Wreckers will look to keep it rolling Tuesday with a visit to Norwalk at 6:15 p.m.
