WESTPORT — Staples boys lacrosse team made it six consecutive victories with a trio of road wins last week.
The Wreckers have improved to 7-1 overall for the season.
First, came a 17-6 win at Stepinac High in New York last Tuesday. Then edging New Canaan, 7-6, on Thursday. And doubling up St. John’s Prep in Massachusetts, 12-6, on Saturday.
In the win over Stepinac, Adam Udell was a one-man offensive show with five goals and four assists.
But he also got plenty of help. Tristan Schaefer logged four goals and an assist; Charlie Clark had two goals and a pair of assists; Hunter Pallai had a goal and an assist; Justin Halky scored two goals; Will Fleming registered a goal and an assist; Cam Prior also had a goal and set up another; Nick Weil tallied two assists, and Justin DiDonato added a goal.
Against New Canaan, the Wreckers fell behind 4-2 at the half but then scored five of the next six goals for a 7-5 advantage before holding on. Josh Marcus was busy in net and had 14 saves. Eric Skolnick and Jake Davis did a great job facing off, helping the Wreckers in the possession game.
In the New Canaan contest, Udell had one goal and three assists; Halky had two goals; Fleming had a goal; Clark had a goal and an assist, and Schaefer and Prior each added a net-finder.
Staples doubled up St. John’s behind Udell with two goals and four assists; Schaefer scored three goals and an assist; Pallai had two goals and two assists, and Clark tallied a hat-trick. Halky and Prior both scored and Weil added an assist.
The Wreckers look to maintain momentum when they visit St. Joseph of Trumbull at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
