WESTPORT — Tree lovers gathered, despite Saturday’s soggy branches, for a “Toast to the Trees” benefit at Earthplace.

The event, a day after Arbor Day, was planned as a celebration of the forested grounds of the environmental learning center and wildlife sanctuary on Woodside Lane.

Toast to the Trees also raised funds to help support the educational, animal sanctuary and outdoor recreational programs offered under those boughs. And, appropriately, there were beverages available for a proper toast or two. The event also featured arts and crafts for the younger set, games and food trucks.
