WESTPORT — The Staples High girls basketball team has won two of its first three games to begin the season.

The Wreckers went on the road and beat Harding High in Bridgeport, 70-29, in the Dec. 12 opener. They fell 56-42 to visiting Sheehan High of Wallingford the next night, and then defeated Bethel, 47-37, in another home game Friday.

Against Harding, Sarah VonDohlen was the leading scorer with 25 points. Freshman Chloe Smith had nine points. The Wreckers next play in a week when St. Joseph High of Trumbull visits at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
