DARIEN — Staples football went on the road and toppled the Darien Blue Wave 31-6 on Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-0 this fall. The Wreckers have piled up 30-plus points in three straight games.
The win is the Wreckers’ first against Darien in thirteen years. The two teams last faced each other in 2018.
Quarterback Nick Weil led the attack with 17 completions on 24 attempts for 231 yards and a pair of touchdown throws. Weil also rushed for a pair of touchdowns.

Chaz Darby carried the load in the rushing game with 19 attempts for 88 of his team’s 118 yards on the ground — a long of 16 yards. Paco Garcia and Weil had 19 and 11 rushing yards, respectively.
Justin Halky had six receptions for 93 yards and a score and Jake McGeehan had a 22-yard TD catch. Connor Petrosino had three catches for 65.
Mickey Ross nailed all of his extra point attempts and booted a 44-yard field goal.
The Wreckers will host Wilton (also 4-0) Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
