WESTPORT — The Staples High field hockey team went to New Canaan on Tuesday and won 4-1, then beat visiting Fairfield Warde 10-0 two days later.
The Wreckers carry a record of 5-0 into a pair of games versus out-of-state competition in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
In the win over New Canaan, Sofia Fidalgo scored twice and Mary Stevens and Alex Hackett both scored. Tyla Ozgen had a pair of assists and Adela Ardrey and Emma Larit both had an assist.
Against Warde, Fidalgo logged four goals and Charlotte Strange hit the back of the cage twice. Ella Ledenko, Leah Larit, Emma Larit and Ardrey also scored.
Emma Larit led in the assist department with four helpers. Leah Larit, Oakley Wilson, Catherine Cirasuolo and Fidalgo also had assists.
Staples is to face Fairfax, Va., at 3 p.m. Saturday, and then play Gwynedd Mercy Academy of Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. Sunday. Both games are set to be played at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
