WESTPORT — “A Million Possibilities,” an exhibition of work by Connecticut artist Sofie Swann, will open Sept. 29 at the Sorelle Gallery.

A reception, planned in conjunction with the exhibit opening, is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the gallery, 19 Church Lane. It is open to the public.

The exhibition will run through Oct. 15.

The new abstract paintings by Swann, who was born in Iran, “feature cool, neutral palettes and her characteristic organic shapes, assembled in a repetitive fashion,” according to publicity for the exhibit.

The work is influenced by Swann’s “emotional response to experiences and memories, particularly in the context of her struggle to find a place to call home after being forced to leave Iran and immigrate to the United States — ultimately landing and building a life in Connecticut,” the event publicity states.

Swann graduated from Smith College, holds a law degree and studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass.

Sandy Pelletier, the Sorelle Gallery owner, said, “while Sofie’s paintings are beautiful and balanced, they are also symbolic, infused with intention and genuine thoughtfulness.

“This is something that resonates deeply for people, I think, and I am thrilled to share that with our clients and the region as a whole,” Pelletier added.
