STAMFORD–The Wreckers carried a three-game winning streak to Stamford Thursday to take on the 8-5 Stamford Black Knights.
The Black Knights were smothered by Staples’ stout defense, which did not allow a single opponent to score in double digits.
On the Staples side of the court, the Wreckers had a terrific day with three players–junior Chris Zajac and seniors Caleb Tobias and Ryan Phelps–scoring in double digits. Zajac led the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Phelps would also knock down two three-pointers, while the team as a whole missed just one out of 14 free throw attempts.
Staples’ next travel to Bridgeport to take on the 1-14 Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers, who haven’t won a game since early January.
