WESTPORT – In a game that could only be described as ‘gritty’, the Staples Wreckers were able to notch a victory Monday night in a non-league game over Stratford, by a final of 66-63.
After the game, senior captain Caleb Tobias said, “It wasn’t pretty, but we got the job done.

Coming off a 25-point win over Pomperaug, this game was far different. Both teams fought back and forth, with the lead changing hands several times.
Student fans were barred from attending, so the gymnasium was quieter than normal; it was easier to hear the players battle.
Led by their senior captains and junior stars, the Wreckers were able to boost their record to 3-1.

This Saturday, the Wreckers will kick off their league schedule at home, against the undefeated Ridgefield Tigers. The Tigers are led by All-FCIAC senior captain Matthew Knachel and sophomore star Dylan Veillette, who scored 33 points in the Tyler Ugolyn tournament finals against Newtown.
