FAIRFIELD — In another tense defensive battle, the Wreckers girls soccer team blanked Wilton to take the FCIAC title. 

The only goal of the game came just a few minutes in, with a cross by Alex Wasserman to Maddie Sansone, whose shot made the net.

In the first half, Wilton had four shots on goal, each of which was defended, one with a header by Talia Moskowitz and another with a catch by ace goalkeeper Cami Kolek.

In the second half, Wilton and Staples traded a few shots, but each team’s defense was perfect.

The state-wide tournament begins on Saturday.
