WESTPORT–A Southbury, Connecticut, man who allegedly threatened to blow up Coleytown Elementary School last November has been arrested, the Westport Police Department announced today.

Christopher Iannacone, 29, allegedly texted “I’ll blow up Coleytown Elementary School” in a 911 message to the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center just after 7:34 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2025, police said. In response, the Westport Public Schools evacuated the building, re-routed inbound school buses and delayed opening the school for two hours, police said.

Westport, Fairfield and Norwalk police departments’ explosive detection canine units coordinated with the Stamford Police Department’s Bomb Squad in conducting a systematic search of the premises.

The investigation “caused further disruption to the neighboring Coleytown Middle School, as it was the subject of a shelter in place order,” Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso said in a release. “After an exhaustive search of the premises, no explosives were located.”

Even as that sweep continued, police traced the call to a phone held by Iannacone, who was found near the school.

Iannocone told police his cellular phone had been hacked. Further investigation, including a forensic examination of the device, interviews with the suspect and coordination with other agencies investigating similar incidents, indicated that Iannacone had sent the threatening message, police said.

Based on the investigation, police obtained a warrant for Iannacone’s arrest. He was charged with:

  • First-degree threatening
  • First-degree falsely reporting an incident
  • Misuse of the Emergency 911 System
  • Third-degree computer crime
  • Computer crime in furtherance of terroristic purposes
  • Second-degree breach of peace

Iannacone, who was incarcerated on charges by other agencies, was formally charged in connection with the Westport warrant while appearing at Stamford Superior Court today.

He appeared in court in Stamford on similar charges stemming from an Oct. 31, 2025 incident in Norwalk. The charges are first-degree threatening, second-degree falsely reporting an incident and misuse of the Emergency 911 System, court records show.

Iannacone was unable to make $100,000 bond set for the Westport charges. He was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the state Department of Corrections.

His next scheduled court appearance has not yet been posted in the state court website, which is updated each morning. However, he is due in Superior Court in Derby on July 29 to face second-degree harassment charges in connection with incidents in Shelton on April 22 and 23, and May 5, 2025. He is due in state court in Derby on July 29, court records show.

Prezioso’s release expressed gratitude to the neighboring departments who helped out in November.

“The Westport Police Department wishes to thank our law enforcement partners from Fairfield, Norwalk and Stamford for their assistance in investigating the initial threat,” the release concluded.
