WESTPORT — A Pennsylvania woman faces a series of charges in connection with the theft of a credit card at a local restaurant more than five years ago.
Danielle Taylor, 33, of Philadelphia, Pa., was charged March 11 with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree identity theft, payment card theft, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit payment card theft.
The charges were filed after a police investigation into a Jan. 23, 2020, complaint by a woman dining at Panera, 1860 Post Road East, who reported that after briefly leaving a handbag unattended, she returned to her seat to find the bag on the floor and contents missing.
Among the missing items was a credit card, which a short time later was illegally used at Stop & Shop supermarket, a short distance away on Post Road East, according to the report.
Using recordings of video surveillance, search warrants and information shared with other law-enforcement agencies, police said they were able to identify Danielle Taylor as the theft suspect.
A warrant for Taylor’s arrest was issued, and she turned herself in March 11 at Police Department headquarters, where she was formally charged.
Taylor was released after posting $35,000 bond and she is scheduled to be arraigned April 1 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
