WESTPORT — A New York man has been charged with a role in shoplifting thefts that have plagued a local beauty and health products store over several years.
Noel Guadalupe, 21, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged Dec. 10 with second-degree larceny, tbird-degree larceny and conspiracies to commit second- and third-degree larceny.
Guadalupe faces those charges in connection with shoplifting incidents at Ulta Beauty, 1365 Post Road East, in 2021 on June 13 and July 9, police said.
The store has been a target for theft over the last several years, often involving a coordinated team of shoplifters who, after entering the store, try to distract employees and flee with merchandise before police are summoned to the scene.

Guadalupe was identified as a suspect in the two 2021 crimes by investigators using video surveillance footage, search warrants and information shared with other law-enforcement agencies, police said.
Warrants for Guadalupe’s arrest were issued, and on Dec. 1o Westport police officers traveled to the Montgomery County Correctional Center in Pennsylvania, where he was being held.
Guadalupe was transported back to Westport, where he was charged and held on combined bonds of $100,000 for arraignment the next day at state Superior Court in Stamford.
