WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man faces multiple charges in connection with a domestic violence attack triggered by a dispute over a cellphone in July, police said.

Travis Henry, 27, was changed Sept. 28 with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from an incident that began early last July 4 when the Westport victim told police that Henry demanded the victim turn over their cellphone so he could see who they had been calling, according to the report.

The dispute turned physical when Henry allegedly lashed out and punched the victim, pushed the victim to the ground, where Henry started choking the victim, according to the victim’s account to police.

After the assault, police said, Henry left the home, but continued to threaten the victim and their family with harm if the incident was reported to authorities.

A warrant was issued for Henry’s arrest, and on Sept. 28 he turned himself in at Police Department headquarters where he was formally charged.

Henry was unable to post the $50,000 bond, and was transported the next day for arraignment at state Superior Court in Stamford.
