Nancy Marsh Gault, a longtime and beloved resident of Westport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 90 years old.

Nancy was born on May 11, 1936, and raised in Easton, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Flora Marsh and the sister of David Marsh, all of whom predeceased her. Nancy grew up immersed in her family’s business, Marsh Dairy, an Easton institution that reflected the strong work ethic and close-knit values that shaped her life.

She received her early education in the Easton school system and went on to graduate from Endicott College with a degree in retail and merchandising.

In 1958, Nancy married Bill Gault, the love of her life. Bill represented the fourth generation of the Gault Energy and Stone businesses in Westport, and together they built a life defined by partnership, resilience, and devotion. Nancy played a vital role in supporting her husband and the family business, particularly during the long and demanding New England winters. They resided in Westport for nearly 70 years, raising their family and becoming deeply rooted in the community.

Nancy had many passions and was deeply engaged in several local organizations. She was an active member of the Westport Young Women’s League and involved with several youth organizations, including being President of the Bedford Junior High PTA and holding leadership roles with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  She was also an avid volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital Treasure House Thrift Shop for several decades. Her love for gardening blossomed into her being a long-term member of the Westport Garden Club, serving as the club President from 1991-93. Her beautiful gardens and greenhouse at her home on South Compo were widely admired.

Nancy was also a world traveler with her husband Bill. They traveled extensively, visiting the Arctic region, Antarctica, and countless places in between. They met many wonderful friends along the way and it was a lifelong passion they shared with the family over the years.

Nancy was happiest surrounded by her family, especially during the holidays, when she created lasting traditions filled with warmth, joy, and togetherness. She will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking and baking—particularly her holiday cookies and her exceptional apple pie—recipes that have been carried on by the next generations.

Nancy is predeceased by her husband Bill.  She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Donaher, husband Jim, and their three children, Megan Donaher Ventrella (Chris), Meredith Donaher White (Travis), and Brendan Donaher (Danielle). She is also survived by her son, Sam Gault, and his wife Nancy, along with their two children, Jillian and Ben. Nancy is further survived by her cherished great-grandchildren — Sadie, Grace, Margot, and Tucker—who brought her great joy.

Above all, Nancy will be remembered for her deep love of family and the joy she created by bringing generations together. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she built and the family she so dearly loved.

A family burial service will be held at Willowbrook Cemetery followed by a private reception in her honor on a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nancy’s memory to the Westport Garden Club here to help carry out the mission of beautifying Westport and promoting conservation and environmental education.
