WESTPORT–First Selectman Kevin Christie announced today that Director of Human Resources Candice Holley has voluntarily resigned from her position with the Town of Westport for personal and family reasons.
Holley was hired in November 2023.
Holley stated, “I truly appreciated the opportunity to work with Town leadership in both administrations, town employees, and the broader Westport community, and Westport will always remain close to my heart.”
Selectman Christie said in the release announcing her resignation, “We wish her well in her future endeavors.”
I can’t be the only one who thinks this is odd. Who announces the departure of an HR director? (Was that an internal announcement that was shared with the local press?) And Mr Christie’s comment is precisely the terse words one uses when someone is shown the door. It would have seemed a lot less peculiar if it /wasn’t/ in the local news blogs.
