Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice was compensated more than $315,000 last year.

WESTPORT — In a Top-10 list composed solely of school administrators, Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice led Board of Education employees in 2021 with a total compensation of $322,444.

Along with his base salary of $293,262, Scarice received $13,182 in vacation compensation last year, along with a $6,000 travel stipend and two $5,000 annual tax shelter payments that both happened to fall in 2021.

Chief Financial Officer Elio Longo had the second-highest compensation at $259,393, including a base salary of $239,970, $3,000 travel stipend, and $16,422 in vacation compensation.

Third on the list was Anthony Buono, assistant superintendent for teaching & learning, with a $240,645 total that included $10,332 in vacation compensation, $3,000 for travel, and $227,313 in wages.

Following on the list were:

  • Michael Rizzo, assistant superintendent of pupil services with a total of $229,441, including $4,977 in vacation compensation and $3,000 in travel.
  • Stafford Thomas, Staples High School principal, with $213,572 in total earnings.
  • John Bayers, assistant superintendent for human resources & general administration, with $211,235 in total earnings, including $9,054 in vacation compensation and $3,000 in travel.
  • Kimberly Ambosio, Long Lots School principal, with $208,729 in total earnings, including $18,664 additional earning relating to her role as an interim principal.
  • Adam Rosen, Bedford Middle School principal, with $194,507.
  • Kris Szabo, Coleytown Middle School principal, with $194,507.

Four administrators shared the number 10 spot in the list at $187,856 in earnings for 2021, including principals Elizabeth Messler (Saugatuck Elementary School), Kevin Cazzetta (Greens Farms School), Janna Sirowich (Coleytown Elementary School), and Natalie Carrignan, director of IT technology.
