WESTPORT — Town officials’ efforts to comply with a state mandate to prepare a five-year affordable housing plan continue this week with two events.
The town, which recently launched a series of public meetings on the issue, faces a July 1 deadline to complete the plan required under the state’s 8-30j statute.
On Tuesday, April 12, a second “Community Conversation” on the topic is planned. It will take place at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
The public forum will be led by First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker; Danielle Dobin, chairwoman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, and Planning and Zoning Director Mary Young. It is co-sponsored by the Republican and Democratic town committees, Coalition for Westport and Save Westport Now.
Organizers are seeking public comments to help guide preparation of Westport’s affordability plan.
On Wednesday, April 13, the P&Z’s Affordable Housing Subcommittee meets to discuss drafting a “strategy” to comply with the state’s mandate for a local affordable housing plan. The session is set for noon via Zoom; click here for the online link.
The group also will hear from Lynn Brooks Avni, New Canaan’s co-director of land use, who will talk about setting up an affordable housing trust fund, according to the agenda.
