WESTPORT — The Westport Republican Town Committee has announced its slate of candidates for town offices in the November election.

The RTC’s nominating committee met earlier, and the full committee on Thursday night at Town Hall, not publicly, and announced the slate Saturday morning in a press release.

There is no contest this fall for the town’s top job. First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker, a Republican elected in 2021, is midway through the four-year term for the office.

Here are the party’s candidates for other offices on the Nov. 7 ballot:

Liz Heyer

Board of Education:

Liz Heyer, an incumbent and the current vice chair

Judy Domkowski

Board of Finance, all newcomers:

Rich Hightower

Tom Lasersohn

Perry Winter

(Two people elected to the board as Republicans are not on the new GOP roster: James Foster, who changed his registration from Republican to unaffiliated, and Jay DesMarteu, who is moving out of town.)

Planning and Zoning Commission:

“We are delighted with our strong slate of candidates led by our current noted RTC Nominating Committee Chair Patrizia Zucaro,” a release from the RTC stated.

“With principled, experienced leaders like Liz Heyer and Judy Domkowski’s advocacy for our school community on the Board of Education, the excellent additions of Rich Hightower, Tom Lasersohn, and Perry Winter to the Board of Finance, John Bolton, Amie Tesler, Patrizia Zucaro and Jack Whittle’s expertise on the Planning and Zoning Commission, with Michelle Hopson and Liz Wong for the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Joe Sledge’s experience and thoughtfulness on the Zoning Board of Appeals, I am convinced Westport’s future will remain bright.”

“Our slate of candidates understands the challenges and opportunities facing Westport, and they are the best prepared, most qualified public servants to lead us forward.”
