WESTPORT — Planning and Zoning Commission members voted Monday to keep the panel’s officers in place another year.
The votes for the leadership team — chair, vice chair and secretary — were unanimous.
Danielle Dobin will serve another term as chairwoman. She was nominated by member Neil Cohn.
“Danielle has really proven to be an exceptional leader, who has consistently empowered all those around her to take leadership roles, and positively impact our community,” he said.
‘One of Danielle’s strengths is her ability to ensure that every voice is heard, that all individuals — whether they’re residents, applicants or fellow commissioners — are treated with upmost respect.’

“One of Danielle’s strengths is her ability to ensure that every voice is heard, that all individuals — whether they’re residents, applicants or fellow commissioners — are treated with upmost respect,” Cohn said.
Dobin thanked her fellow commissioners for their kind words and vowed to do her best to defend Westport in legislative matters coming out of Harford.
Member Michael Cammeyer nominated Paul Lebowitz for another term as vice chair.
“Paul, you’ve been a valuable member of the commission for many years, and your contributions have been instrumental in helping the commission reach fair — and I want to stress the word ‘fair’ — and thorough, informed decisions,” Cammeyer said.

Cammeyer said Lebowitz is diligent and thoughtful, and “right to the point.”
Dobin noted “the level of responsibility you take for reading everything, and asking all the right questions, all the time.”
Lebowitz nominated Cammeyer for another year as secretary.
“Michael is the perfect choice for this, let’s face it,” Lebowitz said. “He has proven over and over again in the last year how much we can trust him to record, accurately record I should add, just the essence and flavor of our deliberations.
“And to that, I’m truly thankful,” Lebowitz said.

This news of the re-election of the same individuals to Planning and Zoning Commission positions that have so far enabled them to direct the potential destruction and disappearance of the special, deeply loved Saugatuck Center community…is disastrous for all of Westport.
This is the same “leadership” , which also chose to abandon the homes and history of the Old Saugatuck neighborhood just a few minutes away
from the Center.
Disguising need for greed may be the operating tool for some developers, but it should not be the accepted practice for elected officials of the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission.
