WESTPORT — Be forewarned, not frightened.
To make way for — and make safe — the annual “Children’s Halloween Parade” on Wednesday, several downtown streets will be closed to traffic, according to a police traffic alert.
The parade of costumed characters sets off at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Main Street and Post Road East, and proceeds up Main Street to Avery Place, and turns onto Myrtle Avenue to Town Hall and Veterans Green.
Streets along the parade route will be closed to traffic according to the following schedule:
- Main Street, from Post Road East to Avery Place, starting at 2:30 p.m.
- Avery Place at approximately 3 p.m.
- Myrtle Avenue, from Evergreen Avenue to Main Street, about 3 p.m.
All streets are expected to reopen by 6 p.m., police said.
In addition, drivers are advised to expect that traffic on nearby roads and parking in downtown lots will be congested.
