SOUTHPORT — For the first time in its history, the Pequot Library is usings its grounds to host a car show that explores the fascinating history of the automobile.

Velocity in Volumes: A Literary and Automotive Art Experience will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1st, on the Pequot Library’s front lawn. Designed as an atypical auto show, the event is meant to be a “curated showcase where the art of the automobile meets the world of books, ideas, and community.”

The vehicles featured at the event were selected due to their artistic, historical, or narrative value. Examples include brass-era models, vintage race cars, American and European classics, and modern sports cars.

The free one-day event is being hosted with the support of the Horseless Carriage & Antique Automobile Clubs of America, the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Vintage Sports Car Club of America, and the CT Seaport Car Club. For more information, click here.
