WESTPORT — Pandemic-era skies, dark during the last two Independence Day holidays, will be bursting with bright and booming salutes Thursday, June 30, as the town’s patriotic sky show returns over Compo Beach.

The fireworks display, returning after a two-year absence, again is being organized by the Westport Police Athletic League and the town’s Parks and Recreation Department. Sponsorship is provided by longtime Westport residents Melissa and Doug Bernstein.

Rain date for the event is Friday, July 1.

Fireworks tickets are now on sale at Westport Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road, and the Parks and Recreation Department office at Longshore Club Park, 260 Compo Road South.

The limited number of tickets are being sold on a first-come, first served basis. Cost is $40 per car. Once tickets for entry to the beach are sold out, passes for shuttle rides to the beach will be available.
