WESTPORT — Feeling as though the only way to avoid the downtown tangle of holiday shopping traffic and parking is by some sort of reindeer-powered conveyance?

That magic transport, alas, is available only to one heavy-set gent in red on one night of the year.

For the rest of us, however, the next best way to skip the panicked search for a parking spot or maneuvering the crowded byways this last weekend before Christmas is the on-demand shuttle service provided by Wheels2U Westport.

For a second weekend, the new minivans deployed by the Westport Transit District are providing Saturday and Sunday rides from anywhere in Westport to downtown.

Rides can be booked, via the Wheels2U app, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on either Dec. 21 or 22. Riders will be dropped off at Jesup Green, opposite from the Westport Book Shop, and on Elm Street, across from the Serena & Lily store. 

One-way fares on the shuttles cost $2. Children 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
