WESTPORT — Several hundred Westporters still have no power early Sunday as outages linger in the wake of storms that unleashed downpours, blustery wind, and thunder and lightning Saturday.

As of 6 a.m. Sunday, 251 local power outages were reported by Eversource, down from a peak of about 1,000 late Saturday.

Thunderstorms, with heavy rain and wind gusts, lashed the region in the wake of several days of oppressive heat and humidity.

More storms, however, could be in store for the region Sunday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

In a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” issued Sunday for southern Connecticut, the NWS warns there are “marginal risks for flash flooding, as well as strong wind gusts with some thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening.”

Skies are expected to remain cloudy throughout most of Sunday, with temperatures reaching a high in the mid-80s, the weather service says.

The greatest threat of storms, with thunder and lightning possible, is late Sunday afternoon, according to the forecast.

Rainfall could range from one-quarter to one-half inch, the NWS says,

Skies are expected to clear overnight, with daytime highs of about 90 degrees Monday, but there also is a chance of more storms by nighttime.

More storms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS outlook.

Power disruptions can be reported online at Eversource.com or by calling 800-286-2000. Customers who signed up for the power company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
