WESTPORT — For book lovers, it’s an event that promises volumes of delight..

The Westport Library’s spring book sale, featuring thousands of volumes appealing to a wide range of readers’ interests, will take place May 17-20 at the library, 20 Jesup Road.

“Gently used” books for adults and children spanning more than 50 categories of nonfiction and fiction will be on offer, according to the library’s announcement. 

There also will be antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, music CDs, movie and television series DVDs and a limited selection of ephemera and artwork.

The book sale schedule is:

Friday, May 17: noon-6 p.m.

Saturday, May 18: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sunday, May 19: 11 a.m.-4 p.m., half-price day for most books ($1 fiction and children’s books remain at the marked price).

Monday, May 20: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., shoppers can fill a Westport Library logo bag for $10 or their own equivalent-sized bag for $8 per bag; also, remaining books purchased individually on sale for half-price.

There is no entry fee for the sale’s regular hours. However, early-bird shoppers can get a first look at the inventory before the sale officially opens, from 8:45-noon May 17, by purchasing tickets online in advance.

The book sale is organized by Westport Book Sale Ventures, supporting the Westport Library as well as the Westport Book Shop, which provides employment for adults with disabilities.

The group also sells books via its online book store and its ebay page.
