WESTPORT — It promises to be a real bow-wow’ser.

That’s the eighth “Westport Dog Festival,” sponsored May 19 by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Winslow Park. (Rain date is Sunday, June 2.) The festival is planned in association with TAILS, a group that promotes spay/neutering of animals. Lead sponsor is Choice Pet.

Dogs, of course, are welcome. Admission fee for humans is $10 per person and $30 for a family of four (two adults, two children.) Proceeds, which benefit nonprofit organizations, have tallied $40,000 to date from prior festivals, according to the chamber’s announcement.

Designated parking areas will be posted by signs along Post Road East, and spaces at the nearby Westport Country Playhouse are available this year

The Dog Festival will feature a range of canine-centric attractions, including:

  • “Best of …” competitions, in categories that range from “best tricks” to “best dressed” to “most resembles owner.” To see the full list of categories and to register, click here.
