WESTPORT — “Light,” as reflected in scripture, tradition and song, is prominently featured in holiday season imagery.

At a time when the Winter Solstice on Dec. 21 marks the year’s shortest period of daylight, man-made lights of all sorts fill the void, brightening this season of celebrations.

In Westport, holiday lights and decorations are displayed in residential. commercial and religious arrays, providing twinkling counterpoints to the long, dark nights.

Westport Journal is asking readers to submit photos of holiday decorations to be considered for publication, whether your own or a neighbor’s, that are particularly memorable — from a few beautiful baubles to colossal, electric-bill-busting displays. Send submissions, with a few details, to press@westportjournal.com.
