WESTPORT — An eco-friendly celebration of all things sustainable is taking root Saturday at Wakeman Town Farm.
EcoFest, a showcase for farm-fresh produce, sustainable goods and artisan crafts, is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the farm, 134 Cross Highway.
There is no charge for admission; it will take place rain or shine.
The Wakeman Farmstand also opens for the season Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring farm-grown flowers and honey, as well as vendors from farms and bakers around the state.
Other attractions include:
10 a.m.: “Goat yoga,” which as the name suggests, is a yoga session next the farm’s goat pen.
11 a.m.: EcoFest’s collection of vendors with sustainable goods and artisan crafts opens. Among the available wares will be hand-woven baskets and housewares; handmade soaps, body butter and essential oils; skin and hair-care products; candles, bags, clothing and more.
Maker demonstrations also will be featured.
And for children, a range of activities is planned, including visits with the farm’s alpacas and baby goats.
Wood-fired pizza by Tony’s Napolitano Pizza will be for sale.
Live musical performances are scheduled throughout the event.
