WESTPORT — Marcus Samuelsson, a celebrated chef and restaurateur, will appear Dec. 2 at the Westport Library.

Samuelsson will be interviewed by CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues for the program, set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.

The program is part of the library’s Trefz Newsmaker Series, which features “intellectuals, foreign policy experts, artists, athletes and other newsmakers who are contending with topical issues,” according to the announcement.

Samuelsson, known internationally in the culinary field, is the founder of the Red Rooster Harlem restaurant, the Red Rooster Shoreditch in London and Marcus B&P in Newark, N.J. 

He was the youngest person to receive a three-star review from The New York Times and has won multiple James Beard Foundation Awards, including “Best Chef: New York City.” In May 2016, he was inducted into the James Beard Foundation Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America.

Samuelsson co-produces the annual week-long festival “Harlem EatUp!,” which celebrates the food, art and culture of Harlem, and is co-chairman of the board of directors for Careers through Culinary Arts Program.

He has written several books, including the bestselling “Yes, Chef: A Memoir,” and his latest, “The Red Rooster Cookbook: The Story of Food and Hustle in Harlem.”

Pegues is the justice and homeland security correspondent for CBS News. He is the recipient of three Emmy Awards and the Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
