WESTPORT — U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal will be the guest speaker at the April 19 meeting of the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club.

The meeting starts at 7:45 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road. 

The club’s meeting is open to the public. Coffee and bagels/muffins will be served starting at 7 o’clock.

Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat serving his third term in the Senate, previously was elected as the state’s attorney general, a state senator and state representative. 

Prior to that, he was a U.S. attorney for Connecticut and had clerked for U.S. Supreme and District court judges.

During Blumenthal’s years in government, he has become known as an advocate for consumers, environmental protection and related health issues, veterans affairs and infrastructure improvements.
