Obituary: Patricia (Patty) Clark Haberstroh, 73

A longtime social worker for the Westport’s Department of Human Services, she “dedicated her life to helping others in need.” She also was active in Westport PTAs and other public education initiatives. After her 2017 diagnosis with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, she became an influential advocate and fundraiser for research into the degenerative illness.

He founded two investment businesses, pioneering “in making business more socially impactful and more equitable.” He also was a longtime supporter of the Nature Conservancy and other educational, environmental and human rights nonprofits.

The mother of eight enrolled in college at age 46, earned a business degree and then worked in the real estate field many years. She also enjoyed travel, achieved the rank of Bronze Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League and took up chess when she was 85.
