NEW CANAAN — A new exhibition at the Silvermine Arts Center takes a close look at the forces that have shaped American art over 250 years of United States history.
A Nation of Vision, on view through June 25th, features 35 artists from a variety of disciplines. The exhibition was juried by Lee Findlay Potter, who described it as featuring works that honor the nation’s past while “bringing together diverse styles, techniques, and perspectives that point toward the future of contemporary art.”
The exhibition is centered around three different themes: Early Visions, covering the period between 1776 and 1900; Modern Shifts, from 1900 to 1980; and Current Perspectives, from 1980 to the present.
