A sci-fi classic, an Abba musical and a horror hoot are among the featured films lighting up the Remarkable Theater’s big screen over the first two weeks of August.
The films will be screened at the Remarkable Drive-In, 50 Imperial Ave. starting Monday, Aug. 2, through Aug. 16. Tickets for the movies can be purchased in advance at the Remarkable’s website: remarkabletheater.org
The organization’s goal is to open a non-profit movie theater in downtown Westport that will employ people with disabilities.
The slate includes:
Aug. 2: “Star Wars,” the 1977 film, now subtitled “Episode IV: A New Hope,” was the first Star Wars movie to be released, kicking off one of the most popular series in cinematic history. It is rated PG; doors open at 7:30 p.m., the screening starts at 8:30.
Aug. 9: “Mamma Mia!” featuring pop tunes made famous by the group Abba, the PG-13 rated movie was distributed in 2008. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., the screening starts at 8:30.
Aug. 11: “Scream,” a 1996 movie featuring a horror-comedy mix, is rated R (anyone under 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian). Doors open at 8:30 p.m., the screening starts at 9:15.
Aug. 16: “Coco,” an animated movie Inspired by the Mexican holiday, Día de Muertos, was released in 2017. It is rated PG. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., the screening starts at 7:45.
