WESTPORT — The “New York Times” reporters whose investigation into sexual harassment allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, a former Westport resident, helped launch the #MeToo movement, will appear Oct. 5 at the Westport Library.
Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey will speak at a fundraising program, “The Exchange: Conversations About The Issues of Our Time.”
The program will take place at 10 a.m. in the library’s Trefz Forum. To purchase tickets, click here.
Kantor and Twohey received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in recognition of their reporting. Since then, they wrote a book recounting their Weinstein investigation, “She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement.”
At the library, the reporters will discuss their investigation and the fallout in a program moderated by corporate executive Joan Gillman.
The program will take place in compliance with public health and safety protocols in force Oct.5, which as of now require that all attendees wear masks. A video link will also be available for those who want to watch the event online.
“We’re reminded daily of the importance of the #MeToo movement Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey helped ignite,” Bill Harmer, the Westport Library’s executive director, said in a statement.
“Not only is Oct. 5 four years to the day that Kantor and Twohey’s story broke in ‘The New York Times,’ we have learned that Universal Pictures is making the Kantor and Twohey book, ‘She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement,’ into a movie. Timing is everything.”
