WESTPORT — A car was destroyed after being engulfed in flames Friday morning on a local of stretch of he Merritt Parkway, according to the Westport Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The incident was reported shortly before 9:45 a.m. Friday near the highway’s southbound Exit 41.

No injuries were reported, according to the posting. Photos show the vehicle, after being consumed by fire, was reduced to a smoking hulk.

Traffic on the parkway was reduced to one lane during emergency operations at the scene.
