Staples field hockey is coming off a pair of impressive road wins this week to improve to 6-0.

Staples won a 3-2 overtime thriller over New Canaan on Monday and defeated Fairfield Ludlowe 3-1 on Wednesday.

Against New Canan, Emilie Russell and Eve Dolan scored in regulation and Leah Larit tallied the OT winner. In the Ludlowe game, Mary Stevens, Larit and Eve Dolan all scored.

The Wreckers are looking good as they head to Conshohocken, Pennsylvania for the annual MAX Field Hockey National Invitational at the Proving Grounds.

There will be 64 public and private high schools from 12 states. They will compete in a total of 70 games during the Sept. 19-21 weekend.  The field includes 20 of the nation’s preseason top-25 ranked teams. Staples is ranked #16 and FCIAC foe Darien is #18.

Staples will take on Kingsway Regional High (New Jersey) on Saturday at 5 p.m. and First Colonial High (Virginia) Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Wreckers will get back to familiar conference competition on Thursday, Sept. 25 with a visit to Darien at 6 p.m.
