MILFORD — Coming off a 4-3 overtime win over Wilton to begin the season, the Staples High hockey team was defeated 6-3 by the Enfield-East Granby- Stafford co-op at the Milford Ice Pavilion on Saturday night.

The Wreckers got two goals from Cooper Paul and a goal and assist off the stick of Derek Wolgast.

Niko Ninios recorded a pair of assists, and Levi Nevstad, Carter Fass and Holden Caney all earned assists.

The Wreckers were outshot 32-27; Staples goaltender Aaron Kail made 26 saves.

Staples hits the ice in Milford again on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury visits at 6:00 p.m.
