WESTPORT — The Staples High girls soccer team, coming off its second consecutive 4-1 victory, is 7-0 to begin the season.
The Wreckers’ latest victim: Wilton.
Alexa Van Aken and Annabel Edwards both scored twice in the Thursday victory. Emme Dorfman assisted on three goals and Maddy Johnson set up the other.
The Wreckers previously beat Darien 4-1 on Sept. 14, while a scheduled Tuesday clash with Greenwich was postponed.
Staples has five shutouts and has outscored opponents 26-2 this fall.
Staples looks to keep it going at 4 p.m. next Tuesday at Bridgeport Central. The Wreckers visit Fairfield Warde at 6 p.m. next Thursday and then head to Fairfield Ludlowe at 7 p.m. Sept. 30.
The next home game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 4 when Trumbull visits. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.) Andy Hutchison has been covering school sports — including Staples athletics — as well as news and feature stories in Fairfield County, since the 1990s.
