WESTPORT–The Staples girls golf team is closing out the regular season in tremendous shape. 

On Tuesday, they beat Greenwich, 181-186, to become the FCIAC West Division Champions. Yesterday, they trounced Trumbull, 172-197, to boost their record to 14-1.

They are ranked number one in the state of Connecticut.

In their final regular-season game Tuesday, they face New Canaan, the FCIAC East Division Champs. Staples and New Canaan met May 9 at Longshore. New Canaan handed Staples their only loss, by a modest three-stroke margin, 191-188.

FCIAC Championships are June 2 and the CIAC Championships are June 6.

The Wreckers have not solely-held the FCIAC title since 2016.
