WESTPORT — Staples boys tennis, the No. 2 seed in the FCIAC tournament, defeated No. 7 Westhill of Stamford 4-0 in the quarterfinals Tuesday.

In singles play, Aleko Vergakis won his match, 6-0, 6-1; Sebastian Elizondo won, 6-0, 6-0, and Robert Jacob prevailed, 6-3, 6-0. 

The doubles tandem of Brett Lampert and Lucas Ceballos-Cala won 6-4, 6-3.

Up next, the Wreckers host No. 3 New Canaan at 4 p.m. Friday (a match rescheduled from Wednesday). Staples beat New Canaan in a 4-3 nail-biter early this spring. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
